  • Hats or bandanas
  • Heavy winter coats (light, zip-up hoodies are acceptable)
  • Black sweat suits, yoga pants, or “skinny jeans”

Do you provide transportation to the community-based instruction sites?

Community-based instruction and various classroom activities may require the use of public transportation. We ask that students apply for a reduced fare bus card to use for traveling to and from home, CBIs, and other school functions. For specific mobility concerns, please contact our school office.

What is your attendance policy?

If a student feels he/she cannot participate in training, he/she should stay home, call in absent, and return the next day ready to learn. To report an absence, the student or parent/guardian must call the office one day prior to the absence or no later than 8:30 a.m. the day of the absence. If calling outside of school hours, please leave a voicemail, and our school office will alert the appropriate parties. After three consecutive, unreported absences, the transition teacher will attempt to contact the student, parent, or guardian. Our administrators will schedule a parent-teacher conference to discuss excessive absences and send notification to the parent/guardian after five consecutive days of absence. For more information, please consult our student handbook located on this page.

When do you conduct student assessments? How will I know how my student is doing?

After an initial assessment pretest, administration conducts an annual post test in the spring to monitor progress. The assessment is based on the Life Centered Career Education (LCCE) curriculum. These assessments help Macomb Academy determine the best placements for each student. We also administer progress reports and employment evaluations after each semester. Parents, students, or staff members may request a conference at any time. Please consult our student handbook in the sidebar of this page for more information regarding assessments.
